Typically, these bits feature hemispherical or round tungsten carbide inserts, though parabolic or ballistic inserts are also available in many sizes. Additionally, a combination of hemispherical and parabolic inserts can be used. Button bits are produced in a wide range of sizes to fit the most common types of Down-The-Hole hammers, with parts fully interchangeable with Sandvik M4.
